## Overview

The **QOQ\_ABS** function **returns the absolute growth for each quarter compared to the previous quarter** (quarter-over-quarter).

Use this function when you need the absolute difference between consecutive quarters.

## Syntax

`QOQ_ABS('Node' [, "MissingValueBehaviour"])`

## Parameters

| **Node**                  | Input node, specified in single quotes (e.g. `'Profit'`) | Node reference | Yes      | --                 |

**MissingValueBehaviour options:**

* `"IGNORE_MISSING"`: Missing rows are skipped. This is the default.
* `"MISSING_AS_ZERO"`: Missing rows are treated as 0.

## Examples

### Default: ignoring missing values

This example shows QOQ\_ABS with the default behavior. The missing quarter 2026-Q1 is skipped and 2026-Q2 is not calculated.

**Input node:** `'Profit'`

| 2025-Q1 | 200   |
| 2025-Q2 | 300   |
| 2025-Q3 | 450   |
| 2025-Q4 | 500   |
| 2026-Q2 | 100   |

**Formula:** `QOQ_ABS('Profit')`

**Equivalent to:** `QOQ_ABS('Profit', "IGNORE_MISSING")`

### Treating missing values as zero

With MISSING\_AS\_ZERO, gaps are filled with 0, producing results for every quarter including those without input data.

**Formula:** `QOQ_ABS('Profit', "MISSING_AS_ZERO")`
